菠萝视频鈥檚 Annual Emerging Director One-Acts will be held this weekend in Gurganus Hall.

This year鈥檚 student directors are Alex Harwell '27 and Eliza Rohda '26, who have been working over the past month to bring audiences two comedies. 鈥淚t鈥檚 my first year directing and I鈥檓 so excited to be able to have this opportunity and to perform in a different way besides acting,鈥 Harwell said.

Harwell鈥檚 production, a 10-minute play entitled A Matter of Husbands by Ferenc Molnar, will have audiences laughing through the twists and turns of a conversation between a Famous Actress (Sidney Richie) and an Earnest Young Woman (Faith Torstensen). 鈥淚 love these girls I get to work with, and I鈥檓 thankful that Professor Baker has trusted me with this production,鈥 Harwell said. 鈥淚 love being involved in theatre, and aspire to one day do what Professor Baker does. It鈥檚 going to be a fun show to watch. These actors have put in some hard work in a very short amount of time.鈥

The second production, a 30-minute one-act directed by Rohda, brings the ordinary and the divine together in a comedic clash of worlds. When God Comes for Breakfast, You Don鈥檛 Burn the Toast by Gary Apple is sure to entertain audiences as Harry (Joseph Hobbs) and Beatrice Katzman (Megan Johnston) figure out what to do when God (Terry Dilliard) shows up for breakfast. 鈥淚鈥檝e really enjoyed getting to be on the other side of the stage鈥擨鈥檝e acted for YU in past semesters, but this time around I get to see another side of what it takes to put on a theatre production,鈥 Rohda said. 鈥淭his show has a lot of funny moments, and I鈥檓 excited to see audiences laughing and enjoying the hard work my actors have put into this production.鈥
