Camp Guidelines

  1. Respect 菠萝视频 property.  All campers are responsible for damages to dorm rooms or other YU property, due to careless behavior and will be expected to pay for it. Campers are expected to keep rooms clean and trash free. Campers will be expected to sign a liability form as they check-in to the dorms.

  2. Computers, laptops, televisions, radios, video games and expensive jewelry should not be brought to Soul Quest. Soul Quest is not responsible if these items are lost or stolen. As a precaution, if we see these items in your room, they will be taken and safely stored until the end of camp.

  3. All valuables should be kept in a safe place and locked in your room. As mentioned above, it is suggested that all expensive items be left at home. If brought, expensive items, large amounts of money, etc. should be locked in the room. Room keys are available to rent for $20 (money refunded when the key is returned).

  4. Cell phone use without permission is prohibited. Calling or texting other campers is a major no-no鈥ou will lose it, if you use it.

  5. Appropriate clothing is required at all times. Skin-tight clothes, low-cut tops, shorts that are not past mid-thigh, cut-off shirts and baggy shorts are unacceptable. You will be asked to change.

  6. Always treat others with respect. This means campers, staff, sponsors, and YU employees. Pranks of any kind are not permitted. Speak with kindness and be considerate of those around you.

  7. Remain on campus. Leaving the YU campus is not permitted. Campers who have their own car will be expected to keep it parked during the week.

  8. Possession of tobacco, alcohol, illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, fireworks, or weapons of any kind is strictly prohibited.

  9. Respect all curfews. Leaving the dorm after curfew is not permitted. Leaving after curfew puts campers鈥 safety at risk.

FAQ

What is classified as middle school and high school-aged?
Middle school and high school students (summer after 6th grade through summer after 12th grade).

How do I know if a child/teenager is ready for camp?
We suggest reviewing the camp guidelines with all campers before they arrive at Soul Quest to make sure they are emotionally mature enough for camp. This is especially important in our younger campers. They will have a better experience at camp if they are ready for Soul Quest, not just 鈥渙ld enough鈥 for it.

A camper takes prescription medication, is there a camp nurse?
Yes, there is a camp nurse and prescription medication MUST be checked-in to the nurse鈥檚 station upon arrival at camp. Medications will be dispersed per parent鈥檚 clear written instructions. Medication must be in original containers clearly labeled. Also, our volunteer nurse staff will administer minor first aid when necessary. In the event a student is ill for an extended period of time or needs further medical attention, parents will be notified by the camp nurse's office, a sponsor or your Youth Minister.

How are rooms arrangements assigned to campers?
Campers attending with a youth group will be assigned a rooming arrangement by their youth minister/sponsor. Campers attending without a group can request specific roommates or be randomly assigned.

How many beds are in a camper鈥檚 room?
There are three mattresses provided in each room. If a youth minister/sponsor assigns four to a room, please make arrangements for a camper to bring an air mattress or something similar.

I know someone who would make a great Soul Quest counselor, how can I help them get involved?
One of our great priorities is to assemble the best possible counseling staff for SQ.  If you have a mature and spiritually minded young adult that you can recommend to counsel, please have them fill out a Counselor Registration Form found on the Staff/Counselor page as soon as possible.  We will not be accepting any staff that does not have a personal recommendation from an adult sponsor that is attending SQ.

I have a camper with special needs how can Soul Quest accommodate?
If a camper has special needs, we ask that sponsors make all the arrangements to meet that need. Soul Quest is a group of volunteers that are, many times, not equipped to work in special needs situations. A designated sponsor is welcome to attend to help meet the needs of the camper, we just ask that they fill out the Staff/Sponsor Application on the Staff/Counselor page. We want to ensure that each camper has a safe and enjoyable time. Any questions can be emailed to soulquest@york.edu
